Pavillon-House | ZH

An architect’s house in a class of its own

The focus of renowned architect Andreas Ramseier here was to break away from rigid cubic thinking and create a warm, inviting atmosphere conveying joy of life. The architecture, both inside and out, blends in with the topography of the location at 615 metres above sea level. Inspired by the Californian architectural style and the Rocky Mountains, such an internationally influenced property is a rare find in Switzerland. With its overhanging roofs, the building is oriented towards traditional Japanese architecture and the classic wooden houses of the Bernese Oberland. A light pyramid above the generous fireplace and the many windows ensure beautiful lighting conditions and unique views all the way to the Säntis. The ground floor sleeping area is accessible both through the airy staircase and a separate entrance. From there, you can reach the spacious piazza with its beautiful trees.
